Whoa, you’re now a Riparide Storyteller – congrats! We hope that you’re as excited to go on your first assignment as we are to send you on it. The following is quick rundown on how to accept a story once it has been assigned to you.

Step 1: Confirm your account

Once you’ve received your invite to become a storyteller, you’ll be asked to log in and confirm your new account. In other words, welcome aboard!

Step 2: Update your availability

After logging in, you’ll be prompted to let us know when you’re available to go on an assignment via your storyteller calendar. Please be as detailed as possible, using specific sets of dates rather than selecting multiple weeks/months. The storytelling team will use these exact dates to find the best listings for you.

You’ll be able to update your calendar for the next three months maximum.

Please update your availability every few weeks, or whenever it changes, as this will increase your chances of being matched with a listing and ensure the calendar is as accurate as possible.

Step 3: Keep an eye out for assignments via email

Once you’ve been matched with a listing, you’ll receive a SMS and an email from [email protected]. You may receive either one property or multiple properties to choose from.

Step 4: Click on the ‘Respond’ button within the email

Step 5: Select your preferred option and click ‘Accept’

Step 6: Confirm your acceptance

Please read through the Riparide terms and double-check the following key things before clicking ‘Accept’ a second time:

  • Have you selected your preferred listing?

  • Is the correct number of adults and kids listed?

  • Are you actually available on the dates listed?

Step 7: Wait for the assignment to be confirmed

You’ve accepted your first assignment! Woohoo! But wait – this isn’t a confirmed booking yet. Now the story request goes through to the host to either accept or decline. They have up to 48 hours to respond.

You’ll be notified via email within two days if the booking was accepted or declined. If the booking expires after 48 hours, you’ll receive an email to let you know that the host has declined it.

Step 8: A response is received from the host

Step 8a: Yay! Your assignment is locked in!

The host is keen and the dates are good, so your assignment is now confirmed! How good.

You’ll be able to manage your booking like any other Riparide booking – from within your Riparide account. Feel free to message the host to ask about local adventures they recommend, or for any other details about your stay.

If you need to make changes to the assignment dates or details, please contact the Riparide team directly via [email protected].

Step 8b: The host declines the assignment

Sometimes your assignment will be declined by the host. Don’t take it personally as there are a number of reasons why this might happen (they can’t get a cleaner, the dates are not suitable etc). You’ll receive an email letting you know that the host didn’t accept your assignment.

In these cases, the storytelling team will contact the host to find out why it was declined and we’ll follow up with you to let you know the next steps.

We’ll try to find alternative dates that suit you and the host or, failing this, we’ll look for other suitable listings to match you and your vibe!
